  • Good Boxing Shoes Can Help You Win  By : sunil
You need more than a mean punch to be a good boxer – you also need proper footwork. No matter how fast and lithe you are, you won't last long in a match if you can't coordinate your feet. Good footwork helps you keep your balance, dodge blows, and stay on your feet if you get hit.
  • Have You Considered Trying To Learn Boxing?  By : sunil
I was about 10 years old when I decided to learn boxing. To say that my parents were surprised would be the understatement of the year! They had both been trying to encourage me to get more exercise for the last couple years, but I had had no interest in it. I was a bookish kid, and I preferred to stay indoors and read rather than going outside and playing with my friends. I had friends, but they were like me. We were all intellectual, shy, and not physically active. My parents could not for the life of them figure out why I wanted to learn to box.
  • Workout For Amateur Boxing That Gets Quick Results  By : sunil
Just what constitutes proper workouts is one of boxing's most controversial topics. I refer now to workouts just before the regular season and during the actual season, after the boys have become physically conditioned by plenty of early road work, and have drilled upon and thoroughly mastered the fundamentals.

Iron Mike Tyson . Let that name resonate for just one moment. In the mid 1980s and some of the '90s, Iron Mike Tyson made boxing the most exciting sport in the world -- even to non-boxing fans. This kid with the sheepish smile and Swarzeneggar body was an absolute fury inside the boxing ring. The youngest heavyweight champ ever, Tyson burst onto the scene with fists that could knock down walls and a interviews that could put a smile on Yogi Berra's face.

  • Boxing Sparing Robots Needed  By : sunil
It is always difficult to find a good sparing partner to box with or practice martial arts. The better you get the fewer people who are willing to get in the ring or on the mat with your. Worse off if it is a friend and he makes a mistake, you often find yourself holding back on your gut instincts to take him out and exploit his foolishness in letting his guard down. If you do not take him down to the mat or clock him so hard he cannot see straight, you are actually doing him a disservice, as in a real fight it would have been over right then and there.
  • Direct TV HBO Channels: HBO Boxing Show's Fights Worth Fighting For  By : sunil
Most people know the basic concept of one of today’s most violent sports, boxing, but contrary to popular belief, boxing is one of the oldest competitive sports still enjoyed today. Boxing has been around for so long, it has even been depicted on the walls of tombs in Egypt, dating from around 2000 to 1500 B.C. Boxing was also practiced by the empires of Ancient Rome and Greece. While the Greek fought with leather straps wrapped around their fists, the Romans used gloves wound with metal strips which promised a much more “interesting” show. Today’s boxing is of coarse much more civilized but it still carries on the tradition of heart pounding adrenaline that its ancient counterpart began.
  • Future of Boxing and Holographic Projection  By : sunil
Boxing is a sport where men and sometimes very tough women get into a ring and knock the ever-living crap out of each other. It is a test of will, stamina and strength. Some say the one-on-one nature is the epitome of what sports competition is. To watch two people go through the rounds of boxing match seems to be something that we all can relate with, whether it is symbolic of life or our innate competitive nature.
  • British Heavyweight Boxing  By : sunil
Boxing promoter Frank Warren must be furious. The ‘spectacle’ that was presented to the viewing public, never mind the paying fans inside London’s ExCel arena, on Saturday 10 th Dec 2005 was a diabolical demonstration of exactly how far heavyweight boxing has fallen. For seemingly the first time in years, terrestrial television was broadcasting a boxing match in a prime time viewing slot - Mainly, one suspects, down to the efforts of Frank Warren and others of his kind. On the basis of that viewing, it will again be a long time before British boxing fans will want to stay in on Saturday night to watch the big fight.

  • Energy Balance in the Body is a Key to Better Health  By : sunil
Historical references to a universal energy field date back as far as 5000 B.C. to India where prana was considered to be the basic source of life. In China it was called chi and was believed to be in all matter. Two polar forces were recognized, yin and yang. When these two forces were in balance, one was considered to be healthy. More recently Western medicine has begun to recognize energy within the body with the advent of devices capable of detecting its effects in the body. Energy fields associated with the human body have been detected by electroencephalograms (EEG), electrocardiograms (ECG), and very highly sensitive devices such as superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID). Even biomagnetism has been recognized, as more sensitive devices have been developed to measure very weak magnetic fields.
  • Boxing and Iraq  By : sunil
The sport of boxing and our U.S. foreign policy, in our third year of an Iraq war, have a lot in common. The idea in boxing is to win the match against your opponent, while hopefully suffering as little damage to oneself as possible. Our current Foreign policy works much the same way and as in boxing, there are many ways to win and lose. In boxing you can win a match by knocking your opponent out, beating them until they are unable or unwilling to continue (technical knock-out or TKO), or by a majority decision of the judges.
  • Hip-Hop Breaks Out At Boxing Match  By : sunil
Saturday night there was a boxing match for the Welterweight title between fighters Floyd Mayweather and Zab Judah. The event was promoted by legendary promoters Bob Arum and Don King. Trying to drum up support for the Pay-Per-View event, the promoters labeled it some sort of "hip-hop summit." Allegedly, the "heavy-hitters" would be there including rapper Jay-Z. Well, hip-hop was on display at the fight as the event degenerated into a fight between opposing camps. Mayweather's camp was upset over a couple of illegal punches and jumped into the ring to be met by Judah's camp. Police had to come in to restore order.

  • Boxing Stereotype Comes Crashing Down  By : sunil
The latest victory by an Eastern European fighter over an American for a heavyweight title nearly completes a sweep for Eastern Europeans. Wladimir Klitschko's dominant performance over Chris Byrd gave him "part" of the heavyweight title in a sport where there are often four recognized champions in one division. Only in boxing could something so dumb and corrupt occur. That aside, the shift in boxing, particularly with the heavyweights, is very interesting.
  • Mike Tyson - A Boxing Legend  By : sunil
But could he have been so much more? Mike Tyson was born in 1966, in Brooklyn. At the peak of his boxing powers he dispatched his opponents in brutal and convincing style. I still remember watching him defeat Trevor Berbick, watching from home as a child. Berbick didn't stand a chance, and as he failed to get up, Mike Tyson was crowned the youngest heavyweight champion in history.
  • Boxing Sparing Robot; Hit Me, but I Hit Back Too  By : sunil
Most Boxing Sparing partners for the big name boxers get paid to get beat up on. But what if we could save that money and build a robot to take the brunt of those hard-training workouts? And while we are doing this why not program in the very best fighters that they may go up against into the robotic sparing partner? Could this be done?
  • The Thaiboxing Workout: A Scientific Approach  By : sunil
Description of Thaiboxing Thai-boxing, the national sport of Thailand, is perhaps the most brutal sport in existence. Participants batter each other with punches, kicks, knees and elbows. There are few rules in Thai-boxing and boils down to survival of the fittest. A match consists of five, three minute rounds. Punching, knee and elbow strikes and kicking techniques are allowed to any part of the body, except the groin. Because of the hard, fast paced action, it is very important for the fighters to be highly conditioned, both physically and mentally. A fighter entering the ring in anything but top condition can expect, at the very least, to be knocked unconscious. There is also a chance of death if not properly prepared. In Thailand, there are many deaths each year as a result of the beating taken in the ring.
  • Boxing Combinations for Cardio Kickboxing  By : sunil
One of the differences between a trained martial artist and a streetfighter is the time spent practicing sequences or combinations of moves. The idea being to not just hit, but to reflexively hit in sequences of three or four moves. It is far more effective to barrage an opponent with a rapid sequence of blows than to just punch them once. That way if they block the first, or the first two, there is still something coming in to get them. Makes a big difference.
  • A Bad Night in Vegas: A Boxing Story  By : sunil
His name was Javier Ayala and he was from Los Angeles by way of Tijuana. He had once gone ten rounds with the great Roberto Duran in 1973 in Los Angeles and also went the distance with Leroy Haley. But on this night at the Silver Slipper in Las Vegas, his main event opponent was Bruce Finch whose claim to fame would be that after his 3rd round TKO loss to Sugar Ray Leonard in 1982 in Reno, Leonard would have surgery to repair a detached retina.
  • Martial Arts - Muay Thai Kickboxing  By : sunil
Muay Thai Kickboxing is often referred to as the science of 8 limbs. The reason for this title is the fact that you use nearly every body part as a weapon. You can strike with your forehead, elbows, fists, Knees, Shins and feet. Muay Thai Kickboxing was invented over 2000 years ago and is recognized as one of the oldest martial arts known to man. Although records of Muay Thai fights only date back to 700 years ago, there is a general consensus that Muay Thai originated over 2000 years ago in the part of Asia that is now inhabited by China.

Hopkins proves again that he is one of the better fighters in boxing history. Baseball, basketball and football were among the most popular of these shrines, but boxing was somehow left out of the equation. Professional boxing champions have always been among the most fan-celebrated athletes in history but, until 1989, there was no permanent structure to celebrate the true legends of the sport.

  • Boxing Gloves  By : sunil
During the original inception of the use of boxing gloves, their primary use is to protect the knuckles of the fighters. However, in recent years the padding requirements of boxing gloves have increased. The first boxing gloves were eight ounces; today the boxing gloves used in boxing leagues are ten ounces. The original function of protecting the fighter’s knuckles is still in effect, but now the extra padding is used for a different reason: to protect the opponent from an easy knockout. The extra padding will force the boxers to use extra strategy instead of pure brute force.

  • Kickboxing Combinations Applied to Cardio Kickboxing  By : sunil
This is the second in a series on martial arts striking combinations used as choreography in cardio kickboxing. As said, a key difference between a trained martial artist and a streetfighter is that the martial artist reflexively hits in sequences of three or four moves. The instinctive non-thinking reaction isn't just a one-move event, its a more effective practiced sequence of strikes. One punch or kick is easy to defend against, but three or four thrown in a row can be very difficult to deal with.

  • lol FIGHT  By : Y0H00
Over the years, I have seen literally thousands of fights and to name my top ten will do injustice to many others and I apologize for that up front. Still, I'll give it a go and list them in order of preference. Rightly or wrongly, I used the following criteria: I had to see them live or when they were first televised (no tapes, youtubes, and/or videos), ebb and flow, sudden change in flow, controlled violence, courage, imposition of will, superiority of technical skills, pure savagery and personal satisfaction.
